The Color Kittens, by Margaret Wise Brown

Hush and Brush strike out on a whimsical adventure to find the missing color green. The preliterate kittens identify the color by their intrinsic charachter. “It’s easy”, says Brush. “Red is Red, Blue is blue,” said Hush. An intriguing and effective technique for preschool children to reinforce and enhance their knowledge of colors. The story excites the imagination of young readers as they experience the multi hued beauty of the world.

Hello world!

Welcome to Wee LibRahery! My name is Lauren Raher, hence the “Raher” in the word library.

I founded this blog because I believe in the beauty and innocence of Classic Children’s books. The non-commercial classic stories that you and I remember fondly. The purpose of this blog is to provide children with the forgotten tales of the past, ones of literary and artistic value, instilling lasting value and memories that last a life time.

Which Classic Children’s stories am I talking about? Stories where the authors are real artists, such as the author of Harold and the Purple Crayon, Ruth Krauss, or Robert Lopshire of Put Me in the Zoo. Stories that are not mass produced just to sell another cartoon show.

If you live in Maryland, I can offer you my “Read Aloud Story Birthday Party” -a birthday party centered around a book of choice with a beautiful project or activity complementing the story.

Your child may love animals or butterflies, certain colors or rainbows. The book list of classic children’s stories will be organized according to those themes. The birthday parties are also centered around your child’s favorite themes. The unique gift to your child is the purity and non-commercial nature of the story.

Enjoy and feel free to get sentimental when you see your favorite old books! I did too :)
